The Matron of Mayhem

It is said in folklore of Long Island NY, that during or after a storm, the fisherman of Long Island Sound occasionally see a woman's face, or head, in the sky.  This head is said to bring with it destruction and/or death.  One witness recalled that," I looked up and saw a rather attractive woman's face above the sound; with dark hair that seemed to disappear into the water below it.  Suddenly the eyes on the face started to glow & the head began to split in two! A small glow of light was then seen within the void of the head for a split second- and without warning and for no Godly reason whatsoever, 2 of my crewmen began screaming, then appeared to get thrown over the side of my boat-BUT NOBODY WAS THERE TO THROW THEM!... It was as if a ghost physically grabbed them and did the deed... To this day I still have no idea where the bodies are."  Some story.  I tried to recreate that same woman; with a little mystery added on.  Who is the guy in the canoe?  Who are the women floating about?  Is the man looking for the women, or is he responsible for their demise?  AND- Is the matron appearing to strike revenge on the man for an evil act in her waters, or were the women HER victims.... You decide.
